Watch: ESOM x Tracey Collaboration Collection
Tony and Tracey Mose discuss their process behind their latest collaboration collection of paintings.
KIPP WESTLING, GALLERY DIRECTOR • JULY 2026
In less than 15 minutes, the red dots came out and the first piece was collected at the private show debuting this summer’s ESOM x Tracey collaboration collection. “We don’t have any more room on our walls but when I saw [the painting], I knew we had to make room somewhere,” one collector said.
Each summer, Tony and Tracey Mose turn their artistic process into a labor of love that completely transcends the canvas. The husband-and-wife artist team collaborate on a collection of paintings incorporating different elements and themes from their individual series’ of works. ESOM Gallery Director Ronnie Dufrene sat with Tony and Tracey for a conversation about the work, diving into what it means for them to work together and collaborate on this series each year.
Read the interview below. It has been lightly edited for clarity.
Ronnie: What inspired the direction for the collection?
Tony: Well, basically what we did is we got together and we decided that we were going to do some of my figures, but Tracey was going to use her great ability to do abstracts in the background. And I think turned out pretty cool so that’s the premise of them.
Tracey: I feel like the inspiration was knowing that I was going to hand the abstract off to Tony and the intimacy of the process, that both of our strokes are on the painting, and that is what pushed me to it. I think I had my backgrounds done really fast because I wanted to see the final pieces.
Ronnie: What is the experience of collaborating with each other like?
Tracey: It is very different creating with each other because sometimes I’ll do a background and I think “oh I know what [figure] Tony is going to put on what painting” because his figurative portfolio is massive, so sometimes I would have a background thinking that “okay I know he’s going to do this with it” then it was something totally different so [there is] the element of surprise.
Ronnie: Are there any challenges that you face when creating with each other?
Tony: I think the only challenge in this current collection was [we were] limited on the number. You know we didn’t want to do a whole bunch of them. We have so many ideas and we go in so many different venues and routes, so we tried to keep it down under 15 and that was kind of difficult because your mind starts traveling a lot.
Tracey: We could’ve really kept going, and probably bigger, right Tony?
Tony: A lot bigger, yeah.
Ronnie: What is the best part of collaborating with your partner?
Tony: First of all our love for each other, and the ability to not only work as a team but to appreciate and bounce ideas off of each other.
